An enhanced pistol-type handle allows the user outstanding control and comfort. There is a re-set on the handle and on the unit housing. The user does not have to bend over, lift the wheel, or step on it to rest to zero. The reset on the housing is reinforced, to protect it when the user resets with their foot. There is also a break on the pistol grip, which stops the counter instantly. This allows the user to stop the accidental addition of lengths.
The measuring wheel has a collapsing hinge, with snaps into an extended lock. This disconnects should the user forget to press the unlock trigger. A center line handle design gives the measuring wheel perfect balance. With a counter on top of the wheel, measuring is both easy and accurate.
