A large carabiner can be handy in many applications. The Petzl William is useful for both belaying and rappelling. It can be used with the Munter hitch with single or double ropes, anchoring multiple ropes and slings, and keeping the belay stationed organized. The William's large shape and gate opening can fit multiple slings and ropes, and is available with a manual locking system (SCREW-LOCK) or auto-locking one (BALL-LOCK, TRIACT-LOCK).
