Petzl designed the Ascension for ascending, and occasionally for hauling (progress capture). It features a wide and ergonomic handle, which allows the user a comfortable yet powerful grip. It is light enough to leave on your harness all day, yet is comfortable enough for long ascents.
Its toothed cam with self-cleaning slot optimizes performance under any conditions (e.g. frozen or dirty ropes). The Ascension has holes for connecting a lanyard and installing a foot loop with a quick link. It also has an upper connection hole for creating a pulley/rope clamp combination or for guiding the line. It is easy to operate, even with thick gloves.
